Seastones - s/t
Posted on January 11, 2006 by jeremy

Electronic ambient album featuring Phil Lesh, Jerry Garcia, David Crosby and Grace Slick. This album is so mellow I usually drift off and fall asleep half way through. And I mean that in a good way. This record is a trip.

Seastones was reissued on CD by Rykodisc, but appears to have gone out of print. The CD version begins with a 30 minute unreleased version as a bonus track.

Don’t let the Jerry Garcia/David Crosby connections scare anyone off. “Seastones” is by electronic composer Ned Lagin, who performed most of this on a bunch of keyboards and synths. He was peripherally related to the Grateful Dead — he and bass-player Phil Lesh used to perform stuff like this onstage as intermission music at Grateful Dead concerts. I love this record.
