Erma Franklin - soul sister

erma franklin

Great funky soul record by Aretha's sister. Her other claim to fame is that she did the original version of "piece of my heart" that Janis Joplin made famous later on.

Can’t find anything by her either. Only stuff by her sister. I’d like to hear the original version of “piece of my heart”. I bet its better.

This has been reissued on Vampi Soul records with a different cover just to let you know.

Is she backed by Young-Holt Unlimited over the entire album? The backing track for her great version of “Light My Fire” is available on Young-Holt Unlimited’s ‘Just a Melody’ LP. Killer, even without vocals.

heidi - did u ever find the erma franklin original, i know a couple of good sites where u could listen to it…it’s pretty awesome, and a somewhat different (but still great) kind of soul than her more famous sis…

better than janis’s version - hard to tell cos this is the version i first heard so i’m biased…
