Pygmies of the Ituri Forest
Posted on February 6, 2006 by hcrink

I suppose that Pygmies, being so naturally small, have a bit of a head start when it come to "getting down". Bad jokes aside, this is a pretty amazing record. The ambience is just awesome and on many tracks the jungle is as much a part of the music as the Pygmies. It is a truely captivating slice of life, and a glimpse into something that most of us would never be able to experience otherwise. This is exactly what I love about Folkways.

Yeah, isn’t it the Pygmies of some other forest? They should have had a battle of the Pygmie bands.
They did try it one year, but decided to discontinue it after the winning band ate the losers.
Paging jack…. why aren’t you throwing the PC book at these oafs? Anyway, I think it was the !Kung Bushmen, who might be the next weight group up.

There’s another pygmies record on Folkways too - Folkways were very big on pygmies. Unfortunately the inverse was not true.
