The New World Money System by Willard Cantelon

Being an avid conspiracy theorist, my mouth started drooling when I came across this piece at a long forgotten (translation: I don't remember where I got this) LA spot. Behold A Pale Horse? The Illuminati? The Da Vinci Code? Eff all those - this guy will scare the crap out of you. The record starts off listing all his credentials and appearances before government officials, scientists and businessmen, then launches into a hour long diatribe about how we are basically the devil's pawns as we speak. Citing biblical passages and philisophical stances about how Satan will re-order the world after Armageddon by giving everyone a number (Social Security anyone?) and that will be the basis of a new system of trade using a form of credit (uh, Visa, Mastercard and AMEX?), Willard makes a surprisingly strong argument. I can't get with the whole bible thumping part of it, but seeing how the world has been downward spiraling as of late, you can't help but stop and ponder his predictions for a moment. Throw in the fact that this record was probably (no release date, but Willard makes reference to first stating his ideas 30 years ago) before all the above mentioned conspiracy books, it makes you think dude was a bit prophetic.

I believe there is a fairly ominous cover that goes with this record. I think it was a view out a typical business office window, suggesting perhaps there was a massive stock market crash and someone has just jumped…? Whatever it was it was creepy in an unusually subtle way.

Just picked this one up at Salvation Army- different label (”New Systems”) and a cover with what looks like a copper-colored plate (like your Grandma would hang on the wall of her trailer) with an old photo of the U. N. building on it, sitting on a collection of banknotes from around the world. Very cheesy- I can hardly wait to play it.

I just got this album, also @ the salvation army store in my town for 50 cents.

My mother was into this crap back when I was twelve or thirteen — I used to have to listen to her rave about the Pharisees; Saducees; wheat; tares - you get the picture. She ordered this record from one or another of her religious magazines back in 1967, which is when I believe it was released.

The original cover was the ‘window’ cover.

Mom was big into conspiracy - the whole world, if I was to believe her, was out to get ‘us’. (Who ‘we’ and ‘they’ were, at the time, was and still is a bit of a mystery).

If you look up this Cantelon fellow, you’ll find that his son is a bit more genteel, but still spreading The Word with his sidekick, Rickie Lee Jones (of “Chuck E.’s In Love” fame).

As to the Old Man himself? He did go on about his contacts - but there’s nothing to independently verify that he was anything more than an itinerant preacher and one of the more-recent crop of religious loonies.

I’m sorry Dean has such bitter feelings about his mother and ‘religious loonies.’ I just stumbled onto this site because I’ve been doing a search for anything on “Willard Cantelon.” I remember Willard Cantelon clearly from the 1970’s talking about a world economic collapse that would usher in the end times. He was no looney! He was brilliant, no doubt a genius. He was also very talented. While speaking, he would often paint a huge beautiful painting; then give it away at the end of the evening. He was also an amazing pianist (along w/other instruments). A very colourful speaker who held his ’standing room only’ audiences in amazement. I would love to see a biography written about his prophetic lifestyle. We could use someone of his stature today.
