Johnny Harris: Movements

Often called "The David Axelrod of the U.K." - and while some of the tracks on this U.K. only lp do have that brooding orchestal funk vibe that has become synonymous with Axelerod - I really don't feel anything on here is nearly as creative or engauging as Axe's best work. Not to say that this is at all a bad record though. It's actually a pretty solid listen all the way through. And the best tracks, such as the percussion heavy "Stepping Stones", are especially excellent! Unfortunately, the record is heavy on pop covers. And while they are unique and well done they leave me wanting more of the soundtracky funk of the few originals on here - all of which I quite enjoy.

“stepping stones” is from the film “fragment of fear” starring david hemmings,though the version used in the film is considerably less elaborate.”the stepping stones” is the name of a secret organisation featured in the film.
