Wild Country: Introducing

Posted on March 11, 2006 by hcrink

wild_country2.jpgI picked this up at a local Goodwill recently and was driven to purchase it just so I could hear their cover of "Honkytonk Woman". Also, I am a big fan of bands with matching shirts. To my surprise it actually turned out to be a pretty solid DIY Country Rock record. Not too overly hillbilly, but "rustic" enough to make the set of almost entirely original tunes more interesting than that of most city-slicker, CSNY wannabe's that were self-releasing lp's that passed for Country Rock during this era.Lookin' sharp, fellas!

I just found and sold a black and white cover one by these guys called “Chubby Lee Sings Wild Country.” Tepid cuntry funk, but their ‘Shaft’ and ‘Magic Carpet Ride’ didn’t totally stink. And yeah, the best thing were the yearbook photos on the back — sideburn action par excellence.
