Killer 60's Spanish (not quite sure where these guys were from, my copy was pressed in El Salvador) garagey fuzz-pop stuff that I was hipped to by Ryan (of this site) a while back. There's a few American pop covers including a cool version of Tommy James' "Mony Mony", but the originals on here are pretty great as well. "Coge Mi Mano" in particular. Lots of fuzz, cheesey organ, and raw, sunny vocal harmonies all around. Love to cover pic of the band too!

Mine is the U.S. press on West Side Latino and coverless :(. A lot of El Salvadorean bands had records distributed through L.A., plus I got this from a garage sale down the street from a Spanish speaking family, who’s dad had a Salvi flag sticker on his car bumper.

Ryan and I own the same U.S press. I guess there are plenty of copies in the L.A area because I got mines years ago from davesrecords.com, when he was still in the L.A area.
Los Mitos is a band that was very popular in Latin America in the late sixties and early seventies. In El Salvador they were extremely popular I would say, however they are from Spain.
I agree with you guys, ‘Coge mi mano’ is the best as well as ‘Si te acuerdas de mi’ and ‘Luces’. If I had the track I would love to sing one of them at the Kareoke.
Los Mitos are definetly from Spain, but if you like this band you should check out Los Vikings these guys did rock and they were from El Salvador. They were many bands from El Salvador during the late 60’s and eraly 70’s which were influenced by American and European rock bands and I must add that they were very good at what they did; however, they lacked the support from the public forcing this band and many others leave their art behind. There’s a cd called Antologia De Los Vikings De Usulutan I highly recommended.
La historia de Los Mitos fue breve, pero dejaron huella en el pop final de los 60 y con su música agradable y de exquisita frescura dieron el salto desde Bilbao, su ciudad natal para extender su fama a toda España e incluso colocar sus canciones en Hispanoamerica.
Comenzaron en 1966 con el nombre de Los Famélicos y tras unos durísimos primeros tiempos y el cambio de nombre por el de Los Mitos comenzó la popularidad.
El 8 de abril de 1968 realizaron su primera presentación, respaldados por la casa de discos Hispavox.
Durante los años 68 y 70, ellos y Fórmula V revitalizaron la rivalidad que existió entre Los Brincos y Los Bravos.
El sencillo de presentacion fue “Cuando vuelvas”, una de las grandes canciones de 1968, un tema facil de asimilar, con una letra nada problemática y arreglos vocales similares a Los Beach Boys, una melodía alejada de los excesos progresivos y sin compromisos socio-politicos. El tema “Cuando vuelvas” era tambien una magnífica representación de medio tono arquetipico entre ritmo orquestal y tragedia vocal.
Con Los Mitos nunca sabías si debías sacar a bailar a una chica cogidos de la mano o suelto; en cualquier momento te alteraban la estructura de la canción. En la cara b aparecía “Coge mi mano”.
En el siguiente disco aparece “Cantemos asi”(Aleluya), junto a “Este es mi llanto”.
En 1969 “Es muy fácil” les da el éxito total. En la otra cara “Si te acuerdas de mi”.
Por supuesto que los mayores éxitos llegaron con sus temas más comerciales, pero siempre con las mas elevadas cotas de calidad y calidez artísticas.
“Me conformo” y “Todos lo saben” tambien son de 1969 y son ejemplos del estilo alegre y sentimental de sus letras, y es apartir de aquí que el grupo debe buscar otro cantante, pues su vocalista Tony decide andar su camino en solitario como Tony Landa dando lugar al comienzo del apagón de la carrera del grupo y las deserciones.
Con nuevo cantante, en 1970, graban “Suena una guitarra” y “No se por qué”.
En 1971 estrenan batería y graban otro sencillo con “Me estas volviendo loco” y “Llejos de ti”; pero ya el éxito estaba lejos y el grupo fue descendiendo.
Llega el año 1972 y editan dos sencillos: “Mírame” y “Vive la vida” en el primero. En el segundo incluían “Ayúdame”(lo que parecía una llamada de auxilio al público) y en la otra cara “Hola, como estas” con ventas no muy buenas.
En un renovado intento por recuperar la popularidad, en 1973 graban “La vida es una cancion” y “Canta cariño, canta”, igualmente con ventas discretas.
En 1974 otro renovado intento fue “Cherie sha la la” y “Al caminar”.
En 1975, antes de que cada cual tomase su rumbo, se despidieron con “Tiempo de amar”.
La casa de discos Hispavox en 1981 editó un nuevo disco con sus mayores éxitos y algunos temas inéditos como “Eleonor” y “Mony, mony”.
El grupo estuvo formado en sus inicios por Jose Antonio Santiesteban (Tony), como voz solista, Carlos Zubiaga en la guitarra ritmica y los teclados, José Ignacio Millán en la guitarra de punteo, Francisco García (Paco) en la batería y Oscar Matías Sorozábal en el bajo.
Los Mitos fueron un extraordinario grupo de consumo sin fecha de caducidad.
As Manuel says above, Los Mitos were spanish, and quite popular in the 70’s! “Coge Mi Mano” was included in their first single (see pic below). It’s cool to know it was released also in south america … and the version there is a little bit different! There are some brass arrangements added.

Cual era el nombre de una cancion de ellos que decia algo similar a esto “… somos tan felizes, es tan inmenso nuestro carino, sombra de un adios, sombra que obscurece nuestro blanco idilio … Cuando estoy contigo, me siento cual paloma … etc” Es de los mitos pero no recuerdo el nombre….
papas sabeis que la musica mas hermosa para mi fue escrita en los 60’s y 70’s. Mirenme mis cheres that if you all want o hear great bands you must start with Los brincos, abracadabra, los gatos, los bravos, Los iracundos, los vikings, hielo ardiente, grupo san miguel, Los galos, los apache, y ofcourse los mitos, es que es una musica tan divina que no tiene explicacion y es tan agradable poder escuchar tanta musica hermosa

I have a copy of this record also but the font on the sleeve is different (I’ll post a pic later). My copy isn’t self titled but it’s titled ‘Es Muy Facil’. ‘Coge Mi Mano’ is my favorite track on that album as well.
If you see this one for cheap, don’t be hesitant to cop.
