Carlos Fariñas - Aguas Territoriales

aguas territoriales

The side long piece Aguas territoriales has a very cool concept that is executed perfectly. We start off with the sound of dripping water. Every minute or so the Cuban composer Carlos Fariñas adds another electronic effect to it, progressively rendering it unrecognizable untill it sounds as the score for some scifi flick. Halfway into it, this process is reversed and the piece ends with bare drops of water again. Carlos Fariñas founded the Estudio de Música Electrónica y por Computación in the beginning of the eighties in Cuba. He's also known for his soundtracks, notably the music for the Russian/Cuban film Soy Cuba.
