Lloyd McNeill - Treasures
Posted on July 6, 2006 by T

New York spiritual jazz with trippy flute backed by Cecil McBee, Dom Salvador, Brian Brake, Ray Armando & Portinho. 1975 recording on Baobob, the known & sampled parts are hard but all 4 tunes move with the strong players, it's growing on me, give a listen to Griot

Lloyd McNeill’s music made such an impression on me, that I ringed his doorbell. He was friendly and we spent some time walking around NY. He is a first class painter and poet as well.
The music is inventive, I have rarely ever heard such a flute tone, and the whole group is remarkable.
