Los Juniors: La Perla

los juniors

This record makes me happy. Los Juniors must have been Mexico's answer to the Brittish Invasion, but unlike so many other tired Beatles cash-ins on this era, this lp is vibrant and alive. And while they do swell versions of a couple Beatle songs ("I Saw Her Standing There"), the few originals on here are the real hi-lights of the record. My favorite being "The Bird". But it's actually a solid, and really fun listen all the way through. Trashy, and poppy, and energetic. They seem to have been the whole package - complete with some pretty boy named Arturo.

It's just too bad that la perla was already, at this early stage, tearing the band apart…

My husband and I were so surprise to find your page and your kind comments. My husband is “the Schemer” in the photo. His name is Enrique Carrillo Barrios-Gómez and is now a Vicepresident of a private university in Baja California, México with a PhD in Marine Ecology, and a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and still sings and plays the guitar and also 2 of our sons. He has great memories of those years. We are very happy you enjoyed the Juniors music. By the way, the pearl in the photo was really a big light bulb. Thanks again. Socorro

Hey, where can I obtain the audio files? I have some of their other work, and I would like to add more to my collection of this band. Thanks!
