Frank Cardona y sus Alegres Tejanos

Frank Cardona - Funky Nassau

This is an oddball Tejano band on Diamante Records, featuring a dubious vocalist known only as "Mario". They play a cool variety of styles, from ballads to hard organ driven cumbias, and loud clangy ranchera. Then definitly have some afro-mex rythms working in a few tracks, and they do a pretty rippin "Funky Nassau" cover, which surely was a hit tune at the time in tropical Mexico. Im also a fan of their rougher version of "Lo Que Te Queda", which was originally made popular by Spanish pop band Yndio.

Ciao Meaty
Greetings from Milan, Italy.
We bought a sealed copy from you and the funky nassau version is wicked. My girlfriend DJs with it whenever the moment is right! Well worth the bother so thanks a lot!

I’m very proud of my father Frank Cardona and that some one out there has recognized him for his work. “Most people can’t say that.” Thank you for the web site!

Ray and Sandy… its awesome that you showed up here. It makes sense that he came from Chicago.. I found this record in Chicago…and have found about 10 copies here since. I’m glad you got some joy from this. R.I.P. Frank Cardona!

Thanks for the link, I think “Funky Nassau” is my new favorite song. I’ve done a quick recut of the organ groove here: http://mfdz.com/track/2362

meatyogre on May 20th, 2007 @ 7:10 pm

whats the point of that recut thing? Its 10 seconds long, and the loop isnt even chopped right. Whats the hell?
