Bergendy: Hétfő
Posted on August 24, 2006 by hcrink

My introduction to Hungarian rock came by way of a large stack of lp's being dumped at a nearby thrift shop recently - so you'll have to excuse my lack of knowledge on the subject. Anyhow, this is definitely one of my favorites of the bunch. On this later 70's(?) double album the large, horn-driven group cover a mind-boggling array of styles. At times sounding like a Eastern European version of something you'd hear on your local geezer-rock radio station, to almost krautrock like insanity - often all in one track. There are definitely a few weak spots, but overall I enjoy a good 2 to 3 sides worth of it very much.

Bergendy’s track on Blek’s Funkytown Budapest comp is stellar. It’s called “Turning Off My Nervous,” whihc makes it even better.
