A. Paul Ortega: Two Worlds

Native American folkie A. Paul Ortega is definitely one of the most unique things I've heard recently… or ever for that matter. So much so that I find I have little frame of reference right now while writing about this lp. Ortega's songs (or renditions of traditional songs) sound ancient, completely futuristic, and totally hypnotic all at once. It is one of those rare cases where the music of two cultures is fused together seamlessly. Two worlds culturally, and historically, but both uniquely American. One is reminded of the the infinite serpent swallowing it's own tail. Far out, huh?

this is an amazing LP - and i am not generally a fan of loner folk anything. Native American folk / blues that is deep and mystical in ways that make the cheapness of almost everything else apparent…
This record has an alternate cover of a dude with buffalo horns.
i had an 8-track of Ortega when i was quite young. It was red in color. Would this be the two worlds album? would love to know I want it back very badly no matter what format it is in. thanks

How many worlds there are depends on your creation myth…for the Navajo (and Hopi too I think) we are now in the 5th world…

I am writing from Hungary, Europe.
around 2000 I worked in the USA and visited the cherokee reservation. In a small shop I picked a native american tape, by chance. It was Three Worlds by A. P. Ortega.
That music hit me so hard with the siplicity, musicality, honesty and traditionality that it burnt into my brain for ever. My later wife had the same result when listening it years later.
We lost that little red tape (with the horned guy) and now so happy that it comes in CD - together with Two Worlds - that we have not herd before.
I am about to get shipped tghis CD to Budapest. I really hope it is the original, and not a re-recorded in 2006.
Very-very strong and meaningfull, truly uplifting music and artist.
