Pete Seeger - The Folksinger’s Guitar Guide
Posted on November 5, 2006 by Kris Holmes

A single record boxset? On Folkways from 1961. Pete Seeger talks you through the intricacies of playing folk guitar. There isn't a whole lot more to say about this, it was a 10 cent find at a used book fair a few years ago. Luckily I already know how to play guitar because the instructional book that originally came with this box is missing from my copy. Needless to say, Pete Seeger comes across as a pretty boring teacher.

Ha ha! As if people are lestening to loads of Leadbelly this days… Just downloaded the Seeger album and it’s fine!

Pete Seeger, hmmmm? do people listen to him much nowadays? his music seems so earnest, so serious - this guitar playing initially seems
competent, but then you realise that it is not
exactly inspiring. Listen to some Leadbelly - an
associate - if you want some fiery playing.
