France Gall - Le Coeur Qui Jazze

In France, France Gall is what you call a superstar of "la variété" (i.e. pop music). This nice little jazz number dates from back in the days when she was working (or was made to work) with Serge Gainsbourg. Side 1 here was penned by Serge: "Poupée De Cire, Poupée De Son" got France Gall to win Eurovision in 1965, which made her a sheer teenage pop idol.

Yet the one track here to me is "Le Coeur Qui Jazze": very classy and uplifting swing / great vocals / great solos - all together in 2 minutes and 47 seconds. Written by France's father Robert Gall / Music by Alain Goraguer et son orchestre, a need-no-introduction cat for all things chanson and cinema.

(If you like it also check "Zozoi", re-issued on a Jazzman 7)

Wonderful track. If you like it, you should check out the ‘Jazz à Go-Go’ by France Gall with Alain Goraguer et son Orchestre.
