The Tree People s/t

Here's one of my favorite northwest private folk records. It came out of Eugene Oregon in 1979, all the songs are composed by Stephen Cohen. Stephen has a nice fragile voice that compliments his acoustic guitar nicely. About half the songs have vocals and the other half are instrumental and kinda remind me of Robbie Basho's work. There's also a lot of nice subtle flute, recorder and percussion in the mix. Overall a really solid record that gets a lot of spins.

The cover does look hot. I’m interested in what this sounds like. Any chance of getting some audio clips?

There is a very nice, legit mini-gatefold CD reissue of it via Tiliqua Records of Tokyo. Check Aquarius Records’ web site for some audio clips.

Their 2nd cassette-only LP is also being readied and there is a possibility of a vinyl re also.

I loooooove this record! Sounds very “now” in many ways.

this record is really amazing. stripped down, half instrumental, well written. i actually found it at a local thrift (northern california) and it gets regular spins. i’m so glad that tiliqua reissued this.
