Jacobs Ladder: If I Had A Wish

Bay area lp that I will tentatively say is interesting. I'm mostly posting this to get "Fist" Goodbody off the home page though… so please forgive me if this is not quite Waxidermy's finest hour. Anyhow, back sleeve credits seem to allude to this being more of a guy than a band… so I guess he's one of those guys who hides behind a band-like name. The sound has one foot in hippie sitar barn vibes, and one (a little more firmly planted) in late 70's AOR nonsense. I realize this might sound great to some of you, but at best it's far from the most comfortable alliance… and when it doesn't work it is downright dreadful. Don't take my word for it though, here's a couple of the more compelling tracks…

I love this record. Well, some of the songs anyway. In fact this was going to be the next record I reviewed, but procrastination set in and Crink beat me to it. I will say the very best song (IMHO) is not represented here so I will post audio shortly…

Ladder Jacob’s blows. Sorry. A bottle of Jameson and a lot of joints could not redeem it.

Here are two songs that I think are the jewels of the album. I’m curious to hear what others think of The Prayer. To me it is one of the most fragile and heartfelt songs that I’ve come across and I never grow tired of it. The Prayer
Here is the other song that I really enjoy: Bluebird
