The “Easy Listening” Group - Vol 1

The messages on the sleeve of this record are somewhat confusing. First, the front promises us "easy listening" and adds a logo saying we are dealing with "background music" (or "BGM"). The back adds to the titles classical indications what style and tempo they are in. So we have scherzoso, moderato but also tempo di shaft. You would expect vivaldi with wah wah guitar. What we get however is a very solid moog record with an impressive funk drummer to accompany the strange synth bass grooves. The classical angle is only prevalent in the track Shaft in Classico. Most other tracks are crude but powerful funk, like Shaft Duro. Not exactly easy listening. The rather unique funk style that emerges in that track is taken to new levels in the disturbing Black Power and the plainly agressive Africa Und End Up, the latter being a drum and percussion orgy with seemingly random moog noise on top. There are also a couple of electronic lounge tracks, like the beautiful Un Ricordo with a very heart felt kitsch melody. Both the label (Botafogo) and the composer (Deschidado) of this Italian library record are completely unknown to me. Information is very welcome. The serial number of this one is 001 so I don't know if the label held out very long. Vol 2 of this record does exist though.

At least these two songs were used in an Italian film “Violence for Kicks” (”I violenti i Roma Bene”) - but only right channel?! - and the film credits the score for Lallo Gori!

He, Moska, that’s some good info. Now I have to track down that film. Lallo Gori, incredible. Thanks.
