Breakfast in Bed - Australian Coffee
Posted on January 5, 2008 by ed

Released in 1982 on the Crunch Ltd label from Medford, Massachusetts. Fairly enjoyable mixture of post punk elements and synth pop/new wave. You get the feeling after listening to a few of these tracks that these guys were fans of groups like A Certain Ratio.
Here's the obligatory group lineup, in hopes that one of these guys Googles their name and shares more info about this LP.
Keyboards, Vocals: Dana Caus
Bass: Doug Klayman
Percussion, Vocals: Joe Marrazzo

damn I have found 2 copies of this down in Atlanta. Wonder if maybe they toured down here and had a fanbase. I’ve tried to find info about this for awhile now with no luck. Found some talk of a cd version? on some new wave message board i believe. Anyways nice find, if anyone wants a copy get at me.
Well, it worked. I was googling my name this morning and came upon this entry. I played bass for Breakfast in Bed and was on the Australian Coffee record with Dana and Joe. After Autralian Coffee we recoded an EP. I left the band in 1984 for focus on college and Jazz. Dana and Joe recorded one more Album with another bass player. If you want to some interesting fodder for this website, google Dana Giachetto.
I was a big fan of A Certain Ratio, Medium Medium and of course, Mission of Burma and am still a passionate fan of all kinds of eclectic music but haven’t played bass in years. It’s nice to see that people are still interested in the great Boston music scene from the 80s.

Too close to home for me, I guess. Boston was loaded with bands that sounded like this back then, and I probably saw most of them. I recognized the cover immediately, but I never picked this one up.
