Edna Mae Henning

Welcome to the magical world of Edna Mae Henning. A very special country singer from rural Pennsylvania. She is in many ways what I had always dreamed of in an older woman singing good ol' fashioned country music. She has a way of capturing the soul of what is truly wonderful about the world around her, as only a real folk singer or 'outsider' musician might encounter. As while the Nashville establishment may not have embraced her, she blazes on, unperturbed. The colors are bright, the air is crisp, she belts out these songs from a very real place in her heart. Edna is still at it, too! Over 10,000 songs she reports, since the early 1980s when she released five or six 7″s. She won't send me her tapes, but maybe if she stumbles on this (???) and reads some positive remarks she may be forthcoming. All the best to you, Edna. And many thanks for the music. A true favorite of mine, and one of the best things I dug up this year. Enjoy!
"Someday Darling"
"Your Baby Waits at Home"
"I Can't Get Over You"

Thanks for another good listen Banana.
awesome! i am so glad you guys are digging it. for some reason i forgot to digitalize the flip to ‘i can’t get over you’ which is just as cool. i’ll get that one up, very soon.
also, despite not having a single copy left herself, these should not be too hard to find, each one was sent to 2,000 radio stations across the uS of a.
Thanks for introducing me to these magnificent tunes. Edna is a true country/blues singer with a style that is familiar yet truly original. Think of a cross between Odetta and Karen Dalton.
Best, Kevin
