Incredibly Strange

The name says it all.

The Now Sounds Of Today (Columbine)

The year and location of this record are ambiguous. However, apparently, this is apart of a series of recordings where a songwriter would submit their work through mail order to have their works performed by a professional singer. The singers on this compilation are ones named Marie Bain, Kay Weaver and Ralph Lowe. The women […]

Jackson White, MD: Deep Relaxation

I’ve had like a million of these mind control/relaxation/meditation records, but for some reason I like this one better than most. Maybe it’s the guitar accompaniment. It’s also kind of unintentionally funny because he must say “deeply relaxed” about 300 times over the course of the 2 sides. [audio:deeprelax.mp3]

Ford Lile: Track of the Scarab

Totally bugged out (no pun intended) album that Douglas McGowan recommended to me recently. Ford Lile manages to sound, mystical, erotic, and really creepy all at the same time. Imagine if Barry White had taken a Paul Horn style career turn and ended up dabbling in new-age and Egyptology. One you’ll have to hear to […]

Richard R. Stuart PH.D: Surgical Anatomy Vol.3

Though this record is spoken in my native English (I think), I really can’t understand a damn thing he says on here. I guess these were to be used as teaching aides for Doctor’s who were learning how to cut up bodies and stuff. I really hope no one had to resort to dropping the […]

Pauline Anna Strom – Trans-Millenia Consort

Wow, here’s a new discovery for me. Pauline released this album in 1982. Every track on here is nice and mellow and spacy. Despite being blind, Pauline manages to channel Eno in every track making this one of my favorite new age albums. My favorite track on here is “gossamer silk”, sublime stuff. [audio:strom.mp3]

Masaaki Hirao

Asian Elvis dude smiles pretty for the camera. Great version of Little Richard’s “Lucille”. I honestly can’t tell if he’s singing it in broken english, or Japanese, or both.
