Daniela Casa – America Giovane 2
Here’s a jazz/psychedelic library from Italy on the very scarce Leo label. “America Giovane” means “young America” in Italian, so my guess is this was their take on the “scene” in the US during the early 70s. The cover art on this one is great. Faceless teens hanging out at Inspiration Point™ (perhaps?) as the pastel sunset looms large behind them.
The music on here is mainly jazz-oriented, but there is one track (Spiralys) that certainly stands out. It kind of sounds like the soundtrack to the night of a 19 year old who has quite a large supply of LSD. Downtempo pyschedelic instrumental music the way it was meant to be. Naturally, there is a Volume 1 to this series. I’ve never heard it but I’d be willing to bet that it’s probably similar to the psychedelic-jazz sound found on this LP. I’m pretty sure I’ll never find this record ever again, so if you do happen to find this for less than three figures, do yourself a favor and pick it up.
