Deborah E. Lillygren – Someday

Where do I start? OK, I paid $1.99 for this. I don’t know if it was the gold flourishes, the old-timey lettering…maybe it was the Corporate Seal of Approval from T.D.A. Incorporated Missouri… What is important is that I bought it, and now I am sharing it with you. The inside of the gate-fold, which is certainly a contender for the most beautiful inside of any gate-fold ever made, shows two people: DEBORAH LILLYGREN (2 CHORDS) and PHIL ROGERS (KEYS). Debby may lack in guitar playing abilities, but she more than makes up for it in her profoundly transparent earnestness. The synth doesn’t hurt either. I feel silly waxing poetic on such incredibly innocuous music. Let’s just say this one was made just FOR the faint of heart, and I can’t think of many other contexts where I would be so eager to go there with her:

that “vegetables” bit at the end of ‘Someday Testimony’ really pushes this into WTF territory. fantastic.

this is so haunting, probably because it is so transparent as said above.

The minor key (“He Created Me”) is hauntingly holy. I guess.

Oh my, I am so surprised to see this. I was doing some research on myself & stumbled onto this page. I realize these are rather old posts, but there is at least one post dated Nov.22nd 2010. So maybe there is still hope in finding contact with my nephew Justin lee Lillygren. Thanks for your nice reviews of my album. There were just so many stories behind all these songs. I hoped somebody would get a blessing out of them “Someday” God Bless, Debbie
