Jay Bolotin Interview

If not for the rampant, chaotic, and unsuppressed expansion of major label recordings in the late 1960s, many strange, wonderful, and mysterious LPs would never have existed, and Jay Bolotin’s first, self-titled is certainly one of them. Having fallen ass-backwards into a record deal almost as an escape from art-school-induced boredom, he managed to generate, at a mere eighteen years, an accomplished, thoughtful set of songs. Erased immediately, the album’s fate has only recently been reevaluated. Jay came to Chicago in March to give us some background into this little known work.
