Fred E. Scott – ‘Journey Within’
Unique ‘afro-synth’ 45 out of Detroit on the Natural label – engineered by Detroit bluesman Bobo Jenkins – likely at his own studio on Joy Road. Jenkins had a long history in the Detroit music scene – stretching back to ‘Democrat Blues’ on Chess (1954). By the 70’s he was producing artists for his own Big Star label – apocalyptic blues like Robert Starks, ‘Space Travelling’ & scrappy funk rarities such as Ellen Jackson, ‘Getto Boogie’ & King Cain, ‘Don’t Give A Damn’. However, who exactly Fred E Scott is remains mysterious…

What the heck is all the hullabaloo about this record? Too bad it looks as if I like, gave mine to a Goodwill or something.
Amazing.
I have the LP. It’s from 1990. Pretty cool but a far sight from sounding like the 45. Still, I’d cop it again for $7.

Its fucking amazing how many people loved this tune tell they found out it was a white guy. If you journey with in there are many many colors, maybe some day many people will be inlightened.
