Judy and Johnny – First Time All Over Again
Well, their threads are awesome.
And there’s something special about their music, I can’t put my finger on it.
Johnny Carroll made some celebrated rockabilly recordings when he was younger.
And I read that Judy Lindsey used to be a model. I’m glad they got together.

“Lady” is such a great song. How am I able to download this? Thanks.
this is great – anyone have more info on the record?
Wow, this is cool.
B***: Totally different sound, but check out Johnny Carroll’s “Bandstand Doll” 45 sometime. Atmospheric rock ‘n’ roll classic from ’59.
Kinda an obvious point, sure, but the ringing, resonant tone of the guitar-plucking on “Lady” lends things a psych flair, an almost acid folk vibe not at all hinted at by the cover. You could easily throw the jawn on a mix with other trippy, folkers and it’d fit just fine. Quite a departure from a rockabilly cat, yet if you listen you can still feel the connections. An interesting collision, for sure, kinda like they were going for Lee & Nancy vibes er sumthin… maybe Mimi & Richard Farina?
And then a countrified Abba cover? Ill stuff, natch…
Hah, after chatting with Rich Haupt about this record, who used to know Johnny, he told me “Lady” is a Little River Band cover… Still a killer, though…
My wife and I had the privilege to know and run around with both of them. So you know, Johnny had been the manager of the Cellar in downtown Fort Worth. Judy was working a shoot across the street. This is how they met. Judy was also one of the “Dodge Girls” who did tv promotions for Dodge. Judy presented me with a fiddle from my wife on my 34th birthday. I learned to play somewhat and did so with them several times. I dearly miss them both. Another “just so you know” was the fact that Johnny gave Judy a long-stem red rose every night they performed.
