Susan and Sarah: S/T
This is maybe my favorite record that I’ve ever purchased from a local junkmonger I call “Van Guy” – a guy who drives around to flea markets selling books, records, furniture, etc out of his van. Quite a character. Anyhow, I find that with this type of stuff you either “get it”, or don’t. Not to imply that those who “get it” are superior in any way to those who do not. It just seems that these home-made “real people” type of records affect people differently and usually immediately. Anyhow – Susan and Sarah… Just a couple of regular girls from somewhere in Massachusetts. Sisters who someone long ago was convinced had that special something and ended up recording this custom lp for the Mark label (Which appears to be some type of custom label much like Century) It is very hard to say what sets this apart from the bazillion other records like this out there. I suppose if I were pressed to elaborate (which I guess I am) I’d have to say that there is an easy charm about it that I tend to often fall for. Another odd thing is that this is all covers – something I normally do not like – but once again, there a certain something about them…
See for yourself though. Here are a couple of Beatles covers… (oddly enough both from Sgt. Peppers)

That cover is scary, I wouldn’t want it in my house.
