The New Volkswagen Transporter

This record was given to the new owners of Volkwagen Transporters back in 1980, promising them “technical impressions” of the van in question. Apparently, people who were into this particular Volkswagen van were heavily interested in abstract musical interpretations of the insides of their car, or so the people from the marketing department assumed. So how does this record sound? Apart from some heavy fusion funk, which could be described as “technical” in a slightly different way, there’s weird electronic stuff going on on some tracks.

If you close your eyes, and you really, really want to, you might be able to envision images of the wireings and engines the cover promises you. There’s no information on artists, musicians or composers, nor do the tracks have names. I’m not the one to judge whether the record lives up to the cover slurs, but the music is definately, eh, masculine… and pretty wild in the electronics department.
