The Sounds Of Now – The Sounds Of Now
This LP was released in the late 1960s as a promotional album for Fanta soft drink here in New Zealand. I picked it up for a few cents at a thrift store a couple of years ago because one of the guys I work with (Wayne Senior) is listed as having produced/arranged/sang on it. I duly asked him about it & he filled me in on the LP. He & his partner were commissioned by Fanta to write some new jingles for the soft drink & include them on an LP featuring up & coming local singers tackling hit songs of the day. Each song is introduced by one of a few different Fanta jingles before the song starts. None of the singers featured were to become huge stars, although a few of them were mildly successful on the local market of the time. The two best tracks are the versions of Love Child & Hush. Love Child was rushed & completed late at night after sending the female singers home so you get Wayne & his partner doing the backing vocals themselves in falsetto. Pulling this record out to review reminds me that I promised Wayne to put the whole thing on CD for him about 18 months ago & still haven’t done so.

Hey Justin, unfortunately I don’t have a scanner, sorry. But yeah, the cover is cool, the colors were almost too bright for my camera.
Michael, I am unable to get the Avengers track to work, I keep trying, but to no avail. The mp3 is loaded into the site but I can’t implant in in the review for some reason. I don’t know what’s up. Sorry.
