Cherie and Jim Schwall – A Wedding Present

Cherie and Jim Schwall

From the liner notes: "This album was recorded on a sony home tape recorder. Mostly at parties, it's mostly first takes. There are no overdubs. No one in New York had anything to do with it." As you can imagine, this lp is a pretty lo-fi affair, which gives it a very intimate and sparse vibe. Its one of those albums where it feels like you're in the same room as the musicians while they were making it.The overall sound is about half folky and half acoustic blues. My favorite track on here is probably the mellow femme track "wanderin". There's also a nice cover of Donovan's "season of the witch".

Well the liner notes are correct and it was my sony tape recorder, Wanderin was recorded in a loft at a party; Cherie almost fell off the stool when the song was finished. Everthings gonna be Allright” was done there also I even sang if the chorus with al the other swaying folks. Another track was done at thier Pillow Factory in WS. I moved to FL in 71 and started Message Music Productions in Central Florida.

I remember Jim and Cherie dropping in a county bar called Anderson’s in Kenosha county Wi. and Jim playing his guitar. I think I even visited the farmhouse one evening? Long time ago and kind of a grey area of my life. Would have been around 1972-1974? Anyway glad to see you are still making music. I am trying to get signed up to your calender list.
