Iasos: Inter-Dimensional Music

One of the really great records on the Unity label from Marin County, CA. I guess this stuff is considered “new age”, but it’s super trippy and should appeal to lovers of space rock and Eno style drone stuff. Very entertaining liner notes too. Check out his instructions on “Finger-Listening”…

Finger-Listening

Try this: While playing this record, rest your fingers lightly on top of the grill of your speakers (not actually on the paper cone). You can thereby absorb these musical vibrations through your finger-tips as well as through your ears. This can be useful for both charging and sensitizing your hands. For “stereo finger-listening”, use one hand per speaker.”

OK, I guess this is new age.

i have this record! that stereo finger listening thing is what made me purcahse the album in the first place. unfortunately, as trippy as the album is, i was hoping for a little more.

I tried listening to this on headphones and then hurt myself when I attempted finger listening. Avoid.

I take no responsibility for finger-listening related injuries.

I actually had a clip done, but it really didn’t sound all that impressive over the computer – I guess some people feel that way about the in person experience too though. haha!

I “saved” my friend’s depraved housewife fantasy movie by adding this music. Check out iasos.com — web design facemelt.

My shrinkwrapped copy has a sticker with an endorsement by Buckminster Fuller on it. Geodesic finger listener.

Odd..these comments are not what I would expect from true Waxidermy enthusiasts.

This record has it all…dark drone, soundtrack pianos, analog electronics, sub-Tomita chordal filigree, cosmic connection inferred etc. etc. An absolutely amazing release in 1978…with gold embossed cover lettering even. A must-have.

I agree with Ernie: I love, love, love this record.
