Masao Hiruma/Testpattern – Apogee and Perigee

Apogee and Perigee

This excellent robot cover houses a record that is a fake soundtrack to a non-existant animation film about the space adventurs of the robots Apogee and Perigee and their android dog, creations of the mad professor Persec, and their fight against a totalitarian society. Almost all tunes are anoying to a point that they are physically sickening. Really very bad Asian kiddy pop. The track Animaloid however is a super interesting endeavor into electronic music that very much lives up to the cover. Despite the eighties sound it's really very original and trippy with lots of bubbling electronic sounds. Oh, Apogee and Perigee are actually terms describing the shortest and longest distance from the moon to the earth during it's orbit.

Sounds like the soundtrack to Sonic The Hedgehog.

i mighta got that song wrong–Hosono composed some of the stuff on this record but maybe not this track–i’ll have to double-check.
