About the Mix: This is the first Waxidermy mix put together by Ed and myself for Dan Zacks' waxingdeep radio show. While there is really no theme genre-wise, the selections are a good representation of the eclectic variety of music represented on the site. On this mix, as on the site, uni-dreadlocked hippy folk, scholarly electronic blips, and bizarre drug fueled poetry collide and mingle into a seamless fusion of otherworldly wonder. We hope you enjoy it, and hope to be bringing you more of this type of thing in the future. – Jeff (hcrink)

About the cover Art: I have a background in art and graphic design but don't enjoy the politics involved in either. I respect Waxidermy.com as a site because it is not so much about the politics of record collecting as it shows a genuine love and caring for the music and strives to preserve it for history. I love the art and graphic design of record covers and always thought it would be fun to make covers for people to look at while they listened to the music. I think a great many record collectors get caught up in what they have and don't stop to enjoy the small things like the music and cover art.
I have always wanted to do cover art. I love to go through boxes of records and see what people put on their covers. I have always secretly hoped that Jeff would make a record because I would make him let me do the cover art. With the Waxidermy.com mix cd's, I wanted to make a diverse body of work that reflected the spirit of the different genres of private press records. In my mind I could see all of them holding some strange person's obsessive message that they felt the need to give to the world. These are my representation of record covers. This is what I think record covers should look like. I would be so happy to find a box of these, Mingering Mike style, at the swap meet to go through. My hands itch in anticipation at the thought.
These Mix Covers were all made by hand and each is unique. They were made over a period of 3 days listening to 3 different cd's. I deviated some from my usual style of work. I limited myself to 4 colors of ink and found images. They came together quickly. I got over my usual fussy, obsessive- compulsive style of working. I worked on them in batches of 10 and then I would rest and change my music. I had a lot of fun working on these covers and I hope you get as much enjoyment out of them as I did in making them. -A.
