 To continue in the Xian section, here is a french one: The Pax quartet, not really famous but quite prolific. It's not just Church songs it's also very jazzy, the orchestra is conducted by Christian Chevallier who was also known for his works with library labels. In fact the voices are similar to "Les Compagnons de la Chanson" a famous french band but not very funky. And the music is groovy as jazz can be in the end of the sixties. The advantage of this LP is that on side one you've got the vocals and and the other side the instrumentals only, so if you find that the lyrics are too heavy you can listen to this very fine jazz sound.
