Pygmies of the Ituri Forest

I suppose that Pygmies, being so naturally small, have a bit of a head start when it come to “getting down”. Bad jokes aside, this is a pretty amazing record. The ambiance is just awesome and on many tracks the jungle is as much a part of the music as the Pygmies. It is a truly captivating slice of life, and a glimpse into something that most of us would never be able to experience otherwise. This is exactly what I love about Folkways.

  • There’s another pygmies record on Folkways too – Folkways were very big on pygmies. Unfortunately the inverse was not true.

  • Yeah, isn’t it the Pygmies of some other forest? They should have had a battle of the Pygmie bands.

  • They did try it one year, but decided to discontinue it after the winning band ate the losers.

  • Paging jack…. why aren’t you throwing the PC book at these oafs? Anyway, I think it was the !Kung Bushmen, who might be the next weight group up.

  • Fabulous, what a weblog it is! This web site gives helpful information to us, keep it up.
