Windflower – s/t

After nearly a year of trying to track down this album, I finally did. Although Windflower hail from Alaska, this album was recorded in Munich, West Germany. I can’t find a date anywhere on this one but by the sounds of it, my guess is this came out in the early seventies. The playing and harmonies on this are really top notch. Haunting femme vocals, mellotron, vibes, reed flute etc really add to this folk/psych gem. You can just tell this record comes from a cold place, it has a really mellow vibe that I can’t get enough of.

When I was a little girl, this band used to jam and stay at our home in Anchorage, Alaska. I remember when this album was made and I believe it was 1973 or 1974. I’ve actually been trying to find out what has become of the members, specifically Gavin Reed and Marshall Sterling. Awesome group of folks, awesome album.

Album was recorded in 1973 and releases in 1974. Correction on Marshall’s last name…Murphy not Sterling.
